you raise some good points there. unfortunately, not everyone can follow them.

trying to find a 9" subnotebook with a decent keyboard was hard enough. but once i had managed to find a few acceptable models (after throwing out more than a dozen unacceptable ones) there was not one left which would come without windows.

so what could i do, other than gulp, refuse the eula and install linux as soon as i had the machine in my hands?

greetings, martin.

Martin -

Sometimes, you're just stuck.

Some here might not agree, but, in those times, you do what you have to do.

I actually have a notebook running XP Pro because my wife needed to run some Windows software for her job.

Sigh.

The shower helped, but not enough.

I am actually posting this from Windows XP, because I am REQUIRED to run it for my work. But when I'm not at work, this puppy runs Ubuntu.

I hear wonderful things about irradiation as a disinfectant. Probably wouldn't reach from your house to the employer's, though.

OT and BTW, the recent WGA fiasco really illustrates that the moniker 'eXtortion Protection' is fitting. (I need more acronyms).
