ARM Allwinner A10, Cubieboard Come To Coreboot

The Allwinner A10 ARM SoC is now supported by Coreboot along with the A10-based Cubieboard.

The Allwinner A10 continues to be a very popular ARM SoC with Linux enthusiasts for its decent open-source support through the linux-sunxi community. The A1X SoCs have been found in hardware like the Cubieboard, Gooseberry, PengPod, and Vivaldi Tablet. The A10 specs aren't impressive these days though with just a 1.2GHz Cortex-A8 processor, Mali 400 graphics, 1GB max of DDR3 memory, and 10/100 Ethernet. However, its open-source Linux compatibility still has the community happy.

Alexandru Gagniuc committed initial Allwinner A10 support to Coreboot on Wednesday. This commit was followed by initial Cubieboard support.

The Cubieboard is a single-board ARM development platform out of China that can run Android, Ubuntu, Fedora, and other ARM Linux flavors. The SoC has the A10 SoC clocked at 1GHz with 512MB or 1GB of RAM and 4GB of NAND flash storage.
