Two views on VIA's open source release

It appeared the open source community had a bone thrown to it by VIA, which announced open driver source codes earlier this month. However, those experienced in providing the needed Linux drivers, including developers of the Unichrome Project, said there are still proprietary roadblocks in using VIA's released drivers with Linux. They add that while their pure open source project is successfully bridging the gap, VIA would have been better off participating in the community effort rather than forking code for the sake of its press releases.
