promoting Linux

Hi gang, after reading all these news sources like heise.de, linuxhardware.org, cooltechzone.com and others, sometimes I start doing something about it. This time I wrote to the marketing stuff of Asustech in Taiwan, asking them why they stopped selling their notebooks here in Europe without a bundled operating system. I told them that we would love to buy their notebooks, because we think they're the best, but we won't ever buy a bundled Microsoft product which comes with it just like a tax you have to pay. Obviously, HP is on the right track here - and Asus seems to miss something. Anyway: I cannot give back to the community through programming, so sometimes I try to promote and advocate. My personal .sig for instance says that my 10-year-old motorbike (a Honda NTV, known in the US as the Hawk) is still running on fuel - but everything else here runs Debian GNU/Linux. cheers, wjl aka Wolfgang Lonien |
