It would be very nice to be able to download a single file of this doc. OOo or PDF would be greatly appreciated. |

Cannot help you on the single file, but when I installed Fedora Core 3 on a laptop, I found the installation notes I had saved to be less helpful than I expected. Here is the one I still have bookmarked: http://madpenguin.org/cms/?m=show&id=3506#Installation (for FC3, but not from the Fedora Group). When running the installation it looked like so many I had done previously I did not refer to the instructions until later. It was at that point I discovered that some of the author's suggestions were counter to my preferences, though several were useful. Rather, I would just suggest you read the notes, which seem to come from Fedora, and note those points especially important to you. Just look at the screen shots, haven't you seen these many times before? In my experience, the installation of Fedora Core 3 was the easiest I have encountered. The upgrade was a problem on FC3, with the up2date gui never working for me - yum on the command line solved that problem though it was necessary to repeat parts of some upgrades/package installations. Sign up for the mail list: http://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-list - once on I would suggest considering the summary option. However, to be able to respond on an ongoing thread take the Summary option with the MIME setting. Almost anyone reads faster than I, however, the mail list is very active! Hence, you may be pressed even deciding which threads just need deleting if it comes directly into your email inbox. I set a filter to automatically store the summary packages in a directory just for the Fedora mail list, I check periodically by grep(ing) on some key words. You might also go to the site: http://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-list/ to see if any recent threads had topics of interest to you. One last suggestion regarding the mail list: when searching do NOT use their search tool, instead go to Google and try your query there. |
