Yes, yes, yes. I have xfce running on Slackware 10.2 on an AMD Athlon "XP 2600+" box with 768MB DDR RAM and it FLIES. Very nice it is too, after the irritations of Gnome and the over fussy appearance of KDE it's a refreshing change.

Well worth a look.

It also has a graphic installer.

Ditto. It's by far the best of the WM's I've tried.

XFCE is pretty, but I don't think it's that much lighter or faster than Gnome/KDE any more. WindowMaker and IceWM are both fast, light alternatives. I spent about a year with IceWM as my main WM, but eventually caved to the extra features in KDE. when my hardware was fast enough.
