Linux will take off on the desktop when Dell and HP start shipping desktop PCs with Linux preinstalled. Dell and HP will have no more trouble preinstalling Linux than they do preinstalling Windows. What it takes for Dell and HP to start preinstalling Linux on their desktop PCs is the guts to defy Microsoft and repudiate the illegal clauses in their Microsoft contracts mandating Windows on the desktop. -------------------------------- Steve Stites |

Steve Stites: I am taking evidence collected over three years to the government to show that Microsoft continues to restrain trade. I will also lobby for naming Dell, CompUSA, Best Buy, Fry's, Office Depot and others in the complaint. This activity at the Department of Homeland Security has exceeded commerce. I don't care if they bundle Linux or not, but they have to give consumers a choice. If government doesn't act the what good are they? |
