7:45 PM EDT 		It's funny how the Steven Stitch disinformation piece http://lxer.com/module/newswire/view/61243/index.html appears in the Heartland Institute at the same time Microsoft is bubbling and gushing about their "Open" XML specs.

One might get the impression that MS wants to head off adoption of a national, open standard that invites anyone to create applications to implement it. Reading Mr. Updegrove's analysis and conclusions, one might also get the impression that MS wants everyone to continue being locked-in to MS Office.

Surely this is not a coordinated attack upon open standards by Microsoft.
