Microsoft customers should be grateful for the company's attitude. After all, it's the kind of attitude that can push customers into the arm of other software --- like Linux. In other words, Microsoft is doing them the biggest favor it can do. |

For as long as I can remember Microsoft as a major player '80s-ish, has had an attitude, an attitude born out of its monopoly mindset. Such an attitude today however, does not have the same weight as it did once years ago, Microsoft has always had the wheel in control, but today is lost for direction, and it's attitude today is more a panic then one of control. |

The author is just now noticing this? This is the same one who wrote about the awful perils of mixed computing environments in the sacred corporate world. |

Well, let's see: > ...the software maker has become too blunt with its customers... Versus the outright lies they've often told in the past, I'd say this is an improvement. > We are not obligated to purchase Vista, if you haven’t realized that yet. No, you're not. But try buying a PC from a major vendor without it and see how far you get. > you are not doing us a favor by releasing Vista. Debatable. If it's more secure than Windows XP (OK, you can stop laughing now), then they are doing Windows users a favor. And the costs of upgrading will undoubtably make some people take a look at the alternatives, which is also a favor. Only if it's worse than XP, or more of the same (the most likely) are they not doing Windows users a favor. > Oh and the age old excuse you have been using for the past couple of years (you know, the stance on quality), that doesn’t fly with anyone. It took him this long to figure that out. Talk about having your head in the sand. > Vista will be attacked beyond your imagination on the day it’s released. Oh, I think Microsoft has a fair handle on the scope of the attacks on their OS'es by this time. Now, what to do about it, that's a different matter. > Knowing Microsoft, they couldn’t be seriously delaying the product one date after another just so they can improve its quality. Well, maybe he's not quite as clueless as he seems. > You have a lot of work ahead of you before you can politely expect us to pay for the retail versions. Polite or not, Microsoft doesn't care just as long as you pay, and pay, and pay... |
