Hello everybody, I have got a Toshiba Satellite A105 series laptop and want to get any good linux installation on it which will work fine with my laptop. I have tried Fedora Core 4 and Debian latest but they could not get my network cards (both wireless and ethernet) detected. my ethernet card is from Marvell Yukon PCI-E and wireless card is Intel proset wireless 2200. Please tell me which linux installations would provide support for these or what should i do to get them working. |

algogeek, have you tried Fedora Core 5? FC5's wireless support works solid as can be on my Sony Vaio notebook using the ipw2200 http://ipw2200.sourceforge.net/index.php wireless driver. You have to manually install Intel's firmware package to make it work. You get that here http://ipw2200.sourceforge.net/firmware.php. this is how it boots up: ieee80211_crypt: registered algorithm 'NULL' ieee80211: 802.11 data/management/control stack, git-1.1.7 ieee80211: Copyright (C) 2004-2005 Intel Corporation ipw2200: Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200/2915 Network Driver, git-1.0.8 ipw2200: Copyright(c) 2003-2005 Intel Corporation |
