IMHO ms no doubt distributed 100M copies or more of ie7, but whether they ever got installed, much less are actually being used, is a different matter entirely.

And how many of those were "distributed" via windows automatic updates without the user's understanding what they were doing or really knowing that they had a choice?

Considering that IE7 was offered as a naer-mandatory upgrade un Windows Update, I think 100m is actually very poor. Looks like most people have automatic install disabled after the WGA debacle and consiously opt out of installing IE7.

I know from personal experiance that IE7 is software verbotten on atleast some government systems (as is Firefox sadly). Sadly that number doesnt seem all that far fetched to me considering the gullability of some people. The same people who still think that AOL IS the internet.
