So, does anybody know if you can install the packages on Debian?

If I had a Debian machine around to test on, I would. :( One of these days I've got to get around to setting up a virtual Debian machine. Hmm, maybe I'll have some free time this weekend....

If we weren't lazy we wouldn't have gotten into computers. It beats working for a living. :)

I've downloaded the 4.0 netinstall disk and I'll try to setup a VMware virtual machine with Debian this weekend. We'll see how that goes. Maybe even do an LXer writeup if there's enough to bother with. Unfortunately, I expect it to be: insert disk, start virtual machine, accept defaults, reboot into Debian. Not a very exciting thing to writeup. :(

No need.

jezuch@zx-spectrum-1:~$ apt-cache policy sun-java6-jre sun-java6-jre: Zainstalowana: 6-00-2 Kandydująca: 6-00-2 Tabela wersji: *** 6-00-2 0 990 http://ftp.pl.debian.org testing/non-free Packages 500 http://ftp.pl.debian.org unstable/non-free Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

In non-free, but still "just an apt-get away".

That's the runtime environment. From the article:

The stack is made up from Sun's J2EE offering GlassFish, Java SE (JDK 6), Derby-based Java DB 10.2, and the NetBeans IDE 5.5.

That's a bit more than the runtime environment.

Editted typo. :(

That would be:

"deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu feisty main universe multiverse restricted" if the article is correct. I checked http://nl.archive.ubunru.com/ubuntu/pool/multiverse/s/ but I didn't see a sun-j2ee, sun-lookingglass, etcetera. There's a j2se package though.

yea, it's in debian.

there's also this : #414535 - sun-java6-jre: Java GUI programs don't work because "Assertion `c->xlib.lock' failed."

sun-java6-jre(1 bug)
