I was using SunOS4 in 1992, it was my first experience using a "real" UNIX. Then, 12 years ago I tried installing Solars86. I couldn't get it to work worth a darn. A friend said he'd just found a stable, well supported UNIX environment, called "Linux". He was a die-hard Solaris administrator, too. So I tried it, after looking up which distribution fit my personal convictions. I've been using Debian ever since. Maybe Solaris has a great deal to recommend it. I look forward to a Solaris live CD so I can try it out. |
