Just a little bit ago, I saw a commercial for Always feminine hygiene products. They have started a program (or started to advertise it) in which part of the profits go to providing the same for girls in southern Africa, so that they don't have to miss school a week of every month. The concept and presentation look so much like Nicholas Negroponte's G1G1 that I can't help but wonder if the makers of Always got the idea from him. Or maybe he got the idea from them. Either way, the idea has taken hold in the public mind. |

That was more like "you get one, we'll turn a blind eye while someone in southeast Asia sells illegal copies". |

I thought it was "You get one, we'll give someone the botched and neutered XP starter edition that cannot open more than three applications, more than 3 windows per application, use resolutions above 1024x768 or do networking (aside from a direct connection to the internet - no LAN)." |
