SugarCRM has so far been a great success in our company. So great that we're now looking at using FOSS for other aspects of the business as well. Do any of you have experience with FOSS Human Resource systems? I found a few through Google but I'd like to hear any experiences or recommendations that you can make.

HR is Evil by definition. I fail to see how the FOSS community could in good conscience successfully produce software for such a nefarious purpose. ;-)

On just a slightly more serious note, FOSS is really lacking in good Accounting software, which would take care of over 80% of HR needs. The remainder could be handled via a custom module in SugarCRM. When you really start looking at everything that needs to interrelate ERP/ERM software becomes the more attractive solution.

And it could have a catchy title: HR EvilWare. We'll all be rich, rich I tell you!

Sorry Sander, I have nothing actually helpful to share.

@ColonelPanik: You should have kissed my a$$ for the passwords, first. Now the stress of losing my 9-5 h3ll-hole existence at the whim of an HR lackey has led me to forget what they were. I predict it will take several weeks, minimum, and some significant billable attorneys' time at the company's expense for me to even start to remember.

Add to that; Construction estimating software that can integrate with that Accounting software.

Did you check out EekBook (http://www.eekboek.nl/)? It's pretty new but looks excellent to me. Finallyt an application that can do *real* double-stream accounting. And it's aimed at small to medium sized businesses instead of personal finance.

Accounting software: http://www.compiere.com/

Haven't used it personally, but I evaluated it for a manufacturing shop several years ago and found it relatively complete at that time.

LedgerSMB? Any other the other ERPs, like Tiny, WebERP, OpenBravo...they can all do accounting...can't they? I'm not the one to evaluate and it may not be as easy as Quickbooks (or it might...), but would those count? If Compiere counts, so do they.

Edit: And does Eekboek do English?

According to their website, Yes. The website is in Dutch, but the software is multilingual they say (haven't tried it myself). You need Perl and either postgress or SQLite. Direct download link is http://www.eekboek.nl/dl/EekBoek-1.03.10_1.tar.gz but you probably have to run their website through google translator or babelfish for the installation and configuration instructions. They also have .deb and .rpm packages.

I got word back from the EekBoek guys. They don't have English documentation available. But I'll take a stab at translating it myself. It's not *that* long.

Is that some odd Dutch phrasing?
