Well, I did that is, until Debian dropped it. "Not being developed upstream any more."

But, but, http://www.xmms.org/ exists and seems to be being updated.

IIRC, Patrick Volkerding replaced XMMS with Audacious, for a similar reason: XMMS was the only package in Slackware that still relied on GTK+ v1. When he switched to Audacious, he could clean out a rather dusty corner in the distro.

Naaa, bummer, I'm no programmer. In fact, I tried compiling XMMS from the sources provided, and after several tries it still wouldn't compile correctly.

Thanks, going to try audacious.

Well, no need to fork. It looks like Audacious got to it first.
