Ron Miller writes in this piece regarding "The Future" for Microsoft
Quoting:If Don Reisinger at Cnet is right [source: http://news.cnet.com/8301-13506_3-10130064-17.html?part=rss&... , 'Windows 7 hits store shelves'], we might be seeing Windows 7 by the end of the year, although I have my doubts about that. Reisinger argues that Microsoft needs to put Vista behind it as quickly as possible and while I agree, it would be foolish to put out Windows 7 before it is ready and fully tested. The last thing Microsoft needs is another Vista and it needs be very careful this year. I believe the company has reached a critical cross-roads for Windows, especially on the consumer side. It needs to hit a home run with Windows 7 to get its momentum back. And just within the past few days are these further hints of MS upcoming challenges: - 'How serious is the market share loss of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer?', linked at LXer from http://lxer.com/module/newswire/view/114303 -'Why Microsoft is just not ready for the enterprise', linked at LXer from http://lxer.com/module/newswire/view/114284 One can almost envisage that the more insidious MS shills will downright leap out of hiding and expose themselves, based upon these pieces and similar such revelations. Indeed, neither these shills nor their "sponsors" would wish to be among the one-sixth of Microsoft's workforce rumored to be laid-off within the next two weeks or so (see http://arstechnica.com/journals/microsoft.ars/2009/01/01/rum... , http://www.fudzilla.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=vi... and other fine sites reporting on this massive downsizing) So, a crescendo of FUD-spinning and its related IP-Patent threat-posturing well before a possible MIcrosoft announcement of Windows 7's impending release in March/April of this New Year 2009 ?? Remember: LXer's reading this now, saw it here first (okay, maybe second or third!) |
