but why did they release a new back end rather than improve the sane backend. I can understand making a new interface. Sane is a good stable backend for scanning, it is just lacking on some functionality on some scanners. Though since this is released under GPL the sane developers can use some of the code to add the missing functionality. Either way this is nice that there are getting to be more options for a scanner when my epson eventually dies. |
