I'm not a Kubuntu user, but is kdenlive the default? Just viewing the authors site, it looks like they are a KDE User, so read into that whatever you wish. I think they may have some idea, "...or they have an aversion to including anything in the default install that requires the KDE libraries." |

For ubuntu, openshot might have been a better default. |
