True story: I'm Eastern Orthodox. When I lived in Silicon Valley, I attended one of the older Russian churches there. Like every other church in the San Francisco Bay Area, they had several members working in the tech sector. I was working for a startup; another member was a network admin for one of the school districts; another member had a Windows helpdesk background; the subdeacon was a VMS admin for Moffitt Field (NASA); the choir director had worked at one of Sun Microsystems' chip fabs, back in the day. Because the church was Russian and not Greek, we called ourselves "Geek Orthodox." |
