It requires a generous definition of failed, though.

It's certainly failed to be cross platform, but is very big in Microsoft shops.

Yeah, double quotes are a PITA. Yesterday I did them in DOS-Batch on Windows 7, once I did it in AWK and once in Python, and none of them make much sense.
