Wasn't this the predicted outcome?

Wasn't this P3P (Platform for Privacy Preferences) project to limit web tracking a "looking only one move ahead" type of solution, in the first place? I'm only surprised it took this long... Google tricks Internet Explorer into accepting tracking cookies, Microsoft claims (Also this similar story about Safari: Google hit with FTC complaint, says circumventing Safari privacy features accidental I'm not sure the two stories are quite comparable -- but I don't know enough about Safari to really say.) And the update to the first article makes clear anyhow -- this is not just a Google thing. Personally, I thought it (P3P) was all mostly "security theatre" in the first place. |
