When you create the first user during installation, simply check the box 'Add to Administrators' and sudo is configured. |

How is that superior to editing the sudoers file with visudo after installation? On a multi-user machine you may need to do more than allow the first user to have root privileges. I actually prefer the methodology in the article. Teaching people to do it in a way that isn't Fedora specific is far more useful. |

Even if the article's title is "Fedora 17 Post Installation Guide". Something tells me Ubuntu users aren't going to be reading it. |

it's not for ubuntu users, it's for fedora users to learn something they can keep using even if they switch distributions... greetings, eMBee. |

And that, in a nutshell, is the biggest reason that when I started with Linux, the final contenders for my first distro was a choice between Debian and Slackware, rather than Suse or Mandrake. (The second-biggest reason was my relatively limited hardware -- but I did already have a boxed Suse on hand). |
