It's a mirage, just as the claim of liberals fleeing when W won his two presidential elections was a mirage. Bottom line: if you don't play by the rules and you get caught there can be a heavy price to pay. |

(party-pooper mode="1") I don't see how this has anything to do with FOSS in general, or Linux in particular. (party-pooper mode="0") |

@gus3 Full title (I forgot to remove the quotes from the title, again, so the LXer truncated the whole thing) was, "Pfizer caught "gaming the system," loses Viagra patent in Canada". I submitted the article on the theory that problems with (and especially blatant abuses of) the patent system are of interest to Free/Open Source Software users, just like copyright issues are. I do realize that the majority of LXer readers are probably more interested in more purely "technical" topics, hardware/software reviews and tutorials than in "Intellectual Property" concerns, but the IP matters are still worthy of attention, too. |

Nice to see the system working the way it's supposed to for once. Notice that it wasn't in the US though. :( |

No James, the money is too plentiful here. The Cash Spicket is wide open and patents for rectangle shapes with round corners are flowing through the system unimpeded. I know that borders on TOS violation but you can't separate politics and patents....at least not if you have your eyes open. Of course, I've grown to be a curmudgeon and a cynic when it comes to stuff like this so I am best left alone mumbling in the corner with a damp tissue stuffed up my sleeve. I LIKE OATMEAL! WHERE IS MY OATMEAL? They put my medication in it. |

> No James, the money is too plentiful her. Agreed completely, Ken. The best government money can buy. :( |

Quoting:money is too plentiful herWho is she and what is money doing to her exactly? Quoting:The best government money can buy. :(Actually, in this last election the side that spent a lot more money lost and lost pretty badly. We may be moving in that direction but we're not there yet. |

> Actually, in this last election the side that spent a lot more money lost and lost pretty badly I'll respond in mail, Caitlyn. Any resulting further discussion here would almost certainly result in TOS concerns. |
