Is linux ever in a state where the good old standby console can be reached by a user space alternative could not? |

It's all in the execution. If he succeeds in trashing the old console and the new one is poo, then it's a bad idea. If it's an actual improvement, and is reliable, and has documentation so users don't have to telepath how to use it, then it's a good idea. |

My initial reaction is that it's a very bad idea, especially for servers. But we'll just have to wait and see. |

I'm with jdixon on this one. OTOH, if it ends up working really well then I'll be glad to be proven wrong. |
