In this case - I sort of agree with the "cloud" advertisement...
Although, I typically use Linode... IaaS works quite well as a cheap - easy to deploy - server platform. And it's also true that its lower upfront cost makes it an easy sell to management. However, as a former government employee, it's much harder to buy IaaS products than actual hardware for public sector use. As an aside - I personally find it rather instructive to build a server from planning to purchasing to assembling to installing Debian... |
