If you want to hibernate a system you certainly need it

I run my personal systems with eight GB of memory. It is cheap - why not. I normally don't need swap for routine tasks. However I like to hibernate my systems when I am in the middle of a project so I can pick things up the next day where I previously finished. Swapping out everything is very handy for that. I normally run a swap space of 1.5 times my system memory. For an eight GB system that is twelve to thirteen GB of swap. I have never had problems with that. Besides disk space is even cheaper than memory. |
