This is basically a rebuttal to a recent review of #! 10 "Statler" on Dedoimedo. I feel like the author called some areas of constancy "regressions", and he didn't really try to follow through with the installation after he started.
Review: Kubuntu 11.10 "Oneiric Ocelot"
I take back anything bad I said about Kubuntu. I mean, it was true then, but definitely not now. Kubuntu is certainly among the best KDE distributions I've seen thus far.
Review: Edubuntu 11.10 "Oneiric Ocelot"
I'm still not a fan of the Unity workflow, but that's my preference. Honestly, Unity and the Edubuntu experience are worlds better than they were just 6 months ago.
Review: Sabayon 7 KDE + GNOME + Xfce
Installation problems with some key packages makes me not recommend that newbies install and use it regularly, but it's officially a pretty awesome live distribution again.
Review: Kororaa 15 "Squirt"
The KDE edition seems to have regressed in terms of stability, as I thought I'd never see a Plasma crash ever again but I did, while the GNOME edition is just plain annoying.
Review: Linux Mint GNOME 201109
There are a few small areas polish-wise where this lags behind version 11 "Katya" GNOME, but otherwise, I really like how it combines trademark Linux Mint ease of use with super speed!
Revisited: Fuduntu 14.10.1
It's just as good as before, and it's rolling-release now too, meaning it's super-good! Yay!
Review: Mandriva 2011 "Hydrogen"
Aside from a few crashes that had more to do with me than Mandriva, it's stunning to see how thoroughly Mandriva has reinvented itself. Bravo!
Revisited: openSUSE 11.4 GNOME
It's a little slow at times, but it feels a lot like Linux Mint, but even more professional. Yay!
Review: Linux Mint 11 "Katya" LXDE
The GNOME ALSA mixer is a pain to use, so the LXDE edition is overall a little harder to use than the GNOME edition, yet it's just as heavyweight too, so I don't see any point in using it.
Revisited: CrunchBang ("#!") Linux 10 "Statler" Xfce r20110207
I loved the Openbox edition, so I didn't bother trying the Xfce edition...until now. Surprisingly, the Xfce edition has all the good parts of the Openbox edition while fixing some of Openbox's shortcomings, making it even better!
Review: CentOS 6.0
It's stable, rock-solid, light, quick, reasonably user-friendly, and will have 10 years of support, but I see no reason to use it over Scientific Linux, which is all of the above and a little more user friendly too.
Review: Chakra 2011.04-r2 "Aida"
Chakra's awesome. I mean, it's *really* cool. It's fast, it installs programs really easily, it's stable, it's rolling-release, it's light on memory for a KDE distribution, and it's polished!
Review: Kongoni 2011 "Firefly"
It generally worked well, and the selection of truly free software is expanding day by day, but my issues in getting a Google Talk SlackBuild installed makes it...well...unsuitable for the newbies it may or may not be targeting.
Review: PCLinuxOS 2011.6 KDE
When I got it to work, it worked really well and it was relatively stable overall, but because it took me a while to get it to work, I can't recommend it for newbies.
Review: Scientific Linux 6.0
It's stable, rock-solid, pretty fast, and surprisingly easy to use. Plus, it's 10 years of official support is way better than many other distributions and rivals the other OS.
The Future of Various Linux Mint Editions
I've been excited about the moving of the Linux Mint GNOME (though there is still a main Ubuntu-based Linux Mint GNOME edition), Xfce, and Fluxbox editions, but less so about the KDE edition moving similarly.
Google+: Initial Thoughts
It's actually pretty nice, like Facebook but without the stupid privacy issues. That said, since installing the new Google Talk plugin for Linux, I have been having issues.
Facebook, Google+, and Centralized Proprietary Monocultures
The Facebook/KDE fiasco should teach us all to not put all our eggs in one cloudy basket.
Review: Sabayon 6 KDE
It's a better live distribution than before, but the installer crashed, so I'm hesitant to recommend it for daily use.
