I try to boost their curiosity, guide them in their wonderings and steer them to interesting and useful web sites. I try to point them in a direction where they'll encounter creative fulfillment and career success, while at the same time finding a meaningful role for themselves in this world.

I suspect that many of your days in high school looked something like this: An adult teacher stands in the front of a square room, lecturing or drawing, with a flood of facts, figures, and dates flowing into a well organized grid of neatly arranged desks. As the teacher lectures, students apathetically scrawled notes, which will be regurgitated onto a future exam. Every one of the students is expected to master the same information, regardless as to their individual ability, personal strengths, interests or aptitudes. Rinse, repeat, until the day of high school commencement, when the cycle ends and one's post-school life commenced.

CBI demands high-end gadgets
Sources said, "The CBI has sent a fresh proposal to the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) seeking additional fund for purchase of latest forensic equipment and gadgets for its Technical and Forensic Support Unit. Use of LINUX technology at its forensic lab is also the top priority of the agency." The agency has demanded allocation of an additional fund of Rs10 crore in the current financial year from the Centre for the purpose, they added.

Akademy 2014 Day 1
Today, Akademy 2014 kicked off hard. The opening keynote from Sascha Meinrath gave some perspectives ... set up a distributed network in Washington, D.C. which avoids the central mobile grid. Sascha asks, "What if we could repurpose unused TV frequencies for broadband? Less than 10% of available bandwidth is used." GNURadio and other projects make it possible for more of this unused capacity to be used. Distributed infrastructure for a variety of technologies is awesome; open hardware allows for participatory technology.
