Red Hat, Microsoft clash at open source conference
TORONTO -- Day 2 of the KMDI Open Source conference started with Robert F. Young, cofounder of Red Hat, Inc. presenting a positive view about open source business models. At the end of a conference day lasting nearly 13 hours, Young returned to deliver the conference's keynote address. In between, Jason Matusow of Microsoft's Shared Source Initiative gave attendees a very differernt point of view about the value of open source in the enterprise. No real surprises there.
The Xiph.org Foundation joins Linuxaudio.org
The Xiph.org Foundation has joined the Linuxaudio.org consortium, becoming the newest member and bringing the total number of members to nineteen. Linuxaudio.org is a not-for-profit consortium of companies and software projects using Linux kernel based systems and other libre software for audio work, with an emphasis on professional tools for the music, recording and broadcast industries.

Pc/104-plus SBC with Transmeta 5500 runs embedded Linux
Kontron claims to have created the first PC/104-Plus CPU module based on Transmeta's Crusoe TM5500 processor. The MOPSlcdTM CPU module exhibits "significantly higher performance per Watt" than previous designs, according to Kontron, with a total power drain of around 3W for the 800MHz board model.

Bitkeeper after the storm - Part 1
