Red Hat recently announced that Red Hat Enterprise Linux v.3 is certified by the Free Standards Group to conform with the Linux Standard Base (LSB) Internationalized Runtime Environment. The company says they are the first vendor to commit publicly to the OpenI18N endorsed input method framework called IIIMF, allowing the input of complex text languages, such as Chinese, Japanese and Hindi. Users will be able to switch between these languages.
Open-source Developers Form Group To Push Zope
On 19 April, commercial Zope vendors will join forces to launch the Zope Association, which aims to promote open source technology in general and Zope as a development tool. The forum will launch in the House of Commons, with founding members including UK commercial organisations that already use Zope.

Equator Technologies has released a reference design for multi-format video-over-IP devices based on embedded Linux. The "Starfish" design targets IP set-top boxes, video streaming appliances, digital media players, personal video recorders with extra-long recording, DVD jukeboxes, and digital-media adaptors for sharing media between PCs and TVs.
Mandrakesoft: half-year results ending March
MandrakeSoft has just released its half-year results ending March. Of note is the 20% increase in revenue and 37% increase in gross profits as compared to the comparable period one year prior, as well as the operating and bottom line profitability. Additionally, they have substantially increased their capital through subscriptions by holders of their warrants, previously issued to shareholders in 2002.

Open source software provider Red Hat has announced that about 10,000 people worldwide have become Red Hat Certified Engineers (RHCE) since the course started five years ago.
