I call her ITina, short for IT in a Box IT-100. She's a petite little number, smaller than my laptop computer, stylishly cased in grey and adorned with colorful LEDs. VIA contributes security tools, sample application under GPL

VIA has released under the GPL a software development kit (SDK) and sample Red Hat Linux 9 application exploiting the Padlock Advanced Cryptography Engine (Padlock ACE) embedded in newer VIA processors. VIA says its PadLock ACE technology uses an advanced PGP (Pretty Good Privacy) public key model and AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) encryption to enable the creation of ultra-secure pathways between users.

Hewlett-packard under pressure to offer more Linux

Hewlett-Packard Co says it is yielding to large clients' demands and expanding Linux distribution -- a decision that could force Microsoft to reconsider some of its corporate pricing for Windows. HP announced a wider partnership on Wednesday with Novell Inc and plans to package its SuSE version of Linux with computers bound for corporate clients.
