California State University chooses Linux for hosting center

The College of Business at the California State University in Chico selected SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server to maintain its widespread hosting services. Desktop Linux wins powerful supporters

At the Desktop Linux Conference in Boston, Red Hat and IBM detailed their desktop Linux plans. And the Open Source Development Lab, which so far has concentrated on Linux for the data storage and processing computers called servers, expects to launch a new group to concentrate on desktop needs starting next year.

The Apache Software Foundation announced that some versions of mod_python contain a bug which, when processing a request with a malformed query string, could cause the corresponding Apache child to crash. This bug could be exploited by a remote attacker to cause a denial of service.
