The Fuduntu distribution is just over a year old, and its first release had a modest but respectable ten thousand downloads. However, with the growing interest in alternatives to GNOME 3 and Ubuntu's Unity, the new 14.12 release is receiving more notice. It's easy to see why: using borrowed tools, Fuduntu tweaks a GNOME 2 desktop to roughly resemble both GNOME and Unity, while offering an unusual but highly serviceable selection of applications and customization tools.
Fuduntu 14.12 Release - Happy Anniversary!
Happy first anniversary, Fuduntu! Our first year has been a great one. We have grown astronomically both in terms of the community, and in terms of mindshare. It is crazy to think that just a year ago Fuduntu was simply an experiment that I uploaded to SourceForge. Here we are one year later competing in the top 50 with all of the major distributions in Distrowatch's six month statistic and receiving hundreds of thousands of hits to our package repository every week.
About the Kernel 3.0 "Power Regression" Myth
Oh boy, here we go again. Phoronix has yet another article proclaiming that the Linux Kernel has a "power regression" again. Those Kernel developer losers aren't doing ANYTHING about it either! Oh the HUMANITY!
Fuduntu Quarterly Release
The Fuduntu quarterly installation ISO image (14.11) is now available for immediate download. As with all Fuduntu releases, this release continues our tradition of small incremental improvements.

Fuduntu 14.10.1 -Fixes boot issue on some hardware.
The Fuduntu team has released Fuduntu 14.10.1 which is a media update to correct a boot problem on some hardware. The issue revolves around Dracut not creating the initial root disk properly which stopped the boot process on some computers with an error message.

Fuduntu 14.8-4 is proving to be a solid release, with no significant issues reported since release on January 29th. Development focus now shifts towards Fuduntu 14 maintenance, and planning for Fuduntu 15.
Fuduntu Weekly Update
Fuduntu 14.8-4 has been released. This release offers no new improvements to the distribution and instead focuses on fixing bugs to improve the existing experience. Barring any significant issues forcing an early release of 14.8-5, this release will be the last ISO release of Fuduntu 14 for the remainder of the first quarter of 2011, allowing the main focus of development to shift to Fuduntu 15.
