The Linux Professional Institute today announced its official accreditation and endorsement by The National Infocomm Competency Centre (NICC) of Singapore.

Toronto, May 11, 2005 - The Linux Professional Institute (LPI), ([HYPERLINK@www.lpi.org]), the premier professional certification program for the Linux community, worldwide, today announced its official accreditation and endorsement by The National Infocomm Competency Centre (NICC) of Singapore.
"The NICC accreditation is a significant step for LPI and the Linux Community. It is another indication of the growing recognition of the importance of vendor-independent and distribution-neutral certification for Linux professionals, and it's increasing value in the workplace," said Evan Leibovitch, President, LPI.
LPI's Singapore LATP (LPI Approved Training Partner), nex-G Training, a division of nex-G - a global company headquartered in Singapore which designs, develops and manufactures broadband wireless solutions, ([HYPERLINK@www.nex-G.com] ), was instrumental in working with NICC, the governing body for training and certifications in Singapore, to acquire this prestigious certification and official recognition of LPI.
Singapore's CITREP (Critical Infocomm Technology Resource Programme) Programme ([HYPERLINK@www.nicc.org.sg]) is a training incentive program designed to equip Singapore Infocomm professionals with critical, emerging, and specialized skills, and to help them gain recognition for their competency within the workforce.
CITREP supports up to 50% of net payable course fees (capped at SGD 2,500), and 50% of the net payable certification exam fees (capped at SGD 500).
"This is great news for Singapore's Open Source community, which is growing substantially every day. It is an indication of the developing recognition of the ever-escalating value of Open Source and Linux professionalism, as we see increasing numbers of people and organizations becoming more receptive, daily," says Nick Lim, Manager for Training Solutions, nex-G Training.
