WCC Announces ELISE for Linux
This major new version is highlighted by the following features: -- Linux support -- Advanced text search capabilities -- Extensive database and transaction reporting capabilities. "Traditional keyword searches and database queries struggle to deliver relevant results. Who is happy with a million hits from a Google search, or the common 'Nothing Found, Change Your Search Criteria' error message. The industry is ready for a new generation in search. Welcome the arrival of meaningful matching!" said Peter Went, CEO of WCC Services. Linux Support WCC is reacting to an important trend in the market with a Linux version of its flagship product. Several of WCC's large customers have expressed an interest in being able to run ELISE under Linux. To be able to support both Windows and Linux, the ELISE product has been re-architected to have an "Operating System Abstraction Layer" (OSA layer). This OSA layer separates the ELISE functionality from the underlying OS services, enabling ports to other OS's in the future. Text Search Feature ELISE's new features were based on market demand for a matching engine that could satisfy all of their search requirements -- whether it is keyword searching in textual data, Boolean searches against structured data, or fuzzy logic applied to both structured and unstructured data. ELISE 5.2 now also supports Google-style text search capabilities -- allowing users to weigh each part of the text being searched separately. For example, a match in the title may carry more weight than in the body. The combination of these new text search capabilities with ELISE's fuzzy logic capabilities for searching structured data and annotations delivers more meaningful ranked results than any other search technology on the market today. Database & Transaction Reporting ELISE 5.2 marks the introduction of an important toolset for database and transaction reporting -- enabling customers to obtain insight into the data held in the ELISE database and in the transactions executed against ELISE. This allows businesses to analyze the searches themselves and learn from them. In an eCommerce context, this means that businesses can see whether the products or services being offered match the products or services that customers are actually searching for. They can then adjust their inventory to match actual customer demand, pro-actively!
