DENVER, Mar 3, 2004 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Jabber, Inc., the leading commercial provider of XMPP-based presence and messaging solutions, today announced the general availability of the 3.0 release of Jabber(TM) XCP (Extensible Communications Platform).
Significant new features included in Jabber XCP 3.0 include: improved hooks for standard SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) monitoring; support for SASL (Simple Authentication and Security Layer); internationalization features that make XCP ready for localization out-of-the-box; and a graphical controller for configuring the Jabber XCP server.
Jabber XCP, which InfoWorld recently referred to as "the king of flexibility," is a commercial platform for building enterprise- and operator-class presence-enabled services and instant messaging systems. It is in use by more than 4 million commercially licensed users worldwide. Jabber XCP is built on top of the Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP), an open protocol based in XML that is widely used as a common denominator between disparate messaging systems. The IETF recently ratified XMPP as an Internet standard for instant messaging and presence.
According to Jabber, Inc., a Network Computing Magazine "2004 Company to Watch," Jabber XCP 3.0, like previous versions, enables compliance with the SEC, NASD and NYSE guidelines regarding the archival and tracking of instant messages.
"The enhancements inherent in Jabber XCP 3.0 represent direct customer-driven requests for these features," said Kris Skavish, Director of Product Management for Jabber, Inc. "Jabber, Inc. remains committed to adding the features and functionality that customers demand and Jabber XCP 3.0 is proof-positive of our customer-centric philosophy."
Jabber XCP 3.0 is available now on the Linux and Solaris platforms with a Windows version on the way. For additional information, e-mail Jabber, Inc. at [e-mail:info@jabber.com] or call 303-308-3231.
