Top Story
----------------------------------------
Mandrakelinux '10.0 Community'.
The final release of 'Mandrakelinux 10.0 Community' is available.
This will be the first Mandrakesoft distribution to follow the
new Development Process, and also the first major Linux distribution to
include the 2.6 kernel as the default kernel. In a nutshell:
The '10.0 Community' release is for those who want the 'latest
and greatest' features as soon as possible
Details of the development changes are available online:

--
Highlights of the upcoming 'Mandrakelinux 10.0 Community' include:
* Linux Kernel 2.6.3 and 2.4.25
* Glibc 2.3.3 with NPTL support
* XFree86 4.3
* KDE 3.2
* Mozilla 1.6
* New drakconnect
* Final menu structure
In addition to the above features, Mandrakelinux 10.0 will contain a
stunning new Mandrakegalaxy II theme for the KDE and GNOME
desktops; the Mandrake Control Center sports an elegant new interface;
and 'magicdev' will replace supermount. Magicdev provides features such
as automatically launching a CD player when an audio CD is inserted
into the drive.
Luis Alves, one of the 'Mandrake Cookers," posts an early review (with
plenty of screenshots) of the 10.0 Release Candidate which he installed
on his IBM laptop:
"The speed of the KDE 3.2 and the new kernel is awesome, compared with
my Mandrake 9.2, you can feel it everywhere. Konqueror is cleaner and
faster than ever. All the interface interaction is more satisfying
using the same hardware."

Linux.com -- Newbies take on LiveCDs; everybody wins.
Joe Bolin from Linux.com takes ten people who have never used Linux to
run several LiveCDs through some informal tests. Overall the test group
agreed that Mandrakemove was their favorite LiveCD:
"Everyone felt that this [Mandrakemove] was the best LiveCD for getting
to know the Linux desktop. One person even said it felt more
comfortable than her 'other operating system.' It has to be the most
user-friendly interface of any we tested. [...] All but one person said
they felt very eager to put Linux on their home desktop."
