I decided to create Cyber Manager, an online cyber cafe management system for cyber cafe administrators, which has been downloaded nearly 3,000 times since I first uploaded it on SourceForge.net in 2011.

The first tip I’d recommend is to go into your power management preferences, make sure your settings for “on AC” and “on battery” are set to not dim display when idle. This is usually a checkbox found for both AC and battery tabs. Also, do the same with the option for “Reduce backlight brightness” in the battery section. To make sure the changes take immediate effect, be sure to restart your computer.

?So for a distro hopper like me, one very useful tool is USB-ISO-MAKER. I always need to have these tools at my disposal as I am always testing out distros. For a long time, I have resorted to Rufus on Microsoft Windows as my most trusted USB ISO MAKER, and for all these times, I must confess, it has served me well. But the problem with Rufus, it requires Windows. So I have been looking for similar tools on Linux but they always seem to be unreliable sometime. The very popular Unetbootin works most of the time but it is in no way as robust as Rufus. There is also dd which is a command line utility but sometimes I do really prefer a GUI and dd can be devastating if you are not very careful. But then there was Etcher. Let me show you why Etcher is so awesome.

Containerize Legacy Apps with Docker MTA

The keyword phrase here is "certain legacy applications." Docker learned while developing MTA that when it comes to migrating to containers, not all legacy apps are created equally. Some can make the transition fairly easily, others not so much. The good news is that through its experimentation, Docker has come up with a checklist to predict how successfully an app can be containerized, and it's so accurate that the company can guarantee a successful move within a specified time period, as well as the cost of the move, for applications that meet the criteria.
