Accessing the Raspberry Pi’s 1MHz timer, via kernel driver
The stated purpose of the Raspberry Pi is to provide a simple, inexpensive platform for experimentation. For myself, the US$35 (plus shipping, tariffs, and all that) has paid off in spades, giving me the opportunity to attain that Holy Grail of Linux programming: writing a kernel module.

Nvidia Optimus on Linux
I have been using Bumblebee with Optimus on my HP Dv6t-7000 CTO laptop since February 2013. My laptop has a Nvidia GT 630M that I use primarily for gaming on Windows 7. My first thought when I got this laptop was of course "How am I going to get my Nvidia card to work on Linux?".
Can Bloomberg Save The Ubuntu Edge?
The Ubuntu Edge smartphone is the source of premature envy the world over. The fact that Ubuntu users can have the most powerful phone in the world–that’s yet to be seen–and not have to deal with a shoehorned installation of their intended operating system, is awesome. The device bodes well for potential Android users as well. Those users who want to have a truly exotic piece of hardware but not have to abandon Android as their primary operating system. The Ubuntu Edge has something for everyone, but will we ever be able to know what it is really capable of?

You'll find that the look has changed from previous releases, marking the change from Ubuntu to Debian as a base. We also support 3 architectures now: i386, amd64 and mipsel (Lemote Yeeloong).
Linux Containers: Part 3, Tools of the Trade

Season of KDE 2013 Applications Open
Season of KDE is a community outreach program, much like Google Summer of Code that has been hosted by the KDE community for five years straight. Ed Snowden's Email Provider, Lavabit, Shuts Down To Fight US Gov't Intrusion
It's not difficult to make an educated guess as to what happened. The Feds went to Lavabit demanding access to Ed Snowden's email. Lavabit refused. The feds went to (secret) court and the (secret) court said (in secret) that Lavabit had to turn over the information. And Lavabit's response is noble: it is shutting down and fighting in court, rather than becoming a pawn in this and compromising the trust and reputation its built up over the years. Lavabit also includes a link on their site for a legal defense fund.
