Google Chrome team has made life easier for web developers and users. Google has implemented getUserMedia API in the beta channel of Chrome browser which allows users to grant web apps access to their camera and microphone right within the browser, without a plug-in. It opens doors to immense possibilities for developers to create 'open' and standard based apps which can use your webcam and microphone.

Andreessen Horowitz Bets Big on GitHub

Andreessen Horowitz is investing $100 million in GitHub, the San Francisco startup that provides online resources for software programmers. It's the largest investment the venture capital firm has ever made. Github's acceptance of the cash is notable. Unlike many startups, the company has been profitable since its 2008 beginnings, and it's turned down investment offers in the past.

Ahhhh, Sun Valley....Playground of the rich and famous. Music and Movie industry honchos will be meeting in Sun Valley soon to discuss how to better address online piracy. Their term....not mine. I found it refreshing to read an honest assessment of industry leader's reaction to the outrage over SOPA and PIPA. Spoiler alert here. Many voiced regret over trying to twist political arms to do their bidding. An amazing revelation in itself, methinks anyway.

NYTimes is mostly a pay site and this article may jump behind a paywall soon. If it does, my apologies. This is an interesting read for those interested in the ongoing and global flap over copyright, IP and the such.

The CentOS team is pleased to announce the immediate availability of CentOS-6.3 for i386 and x86_64 Architectures. CentOS-6.3 is based on the upstream release EL 6.3 and includes packages from all variants. All upstream repositories have been combined into one, to make it easier for end users to work with. There are some important changes to this release compared with the previous versions of CentOS and we highly recommend reading this announcement along with the Release Notes. There is also a minimal install CD that will get you a very small base install that you can add to.
