Sabayon, despite being in the top ten on Distrowatch, isn’t as publicized as other popular distributions. Xfce is my desktop of choice, so I thought that I would review the Xfce version of Sabayon 5.5, the newest edition.

As June 15th nears, the folks at Google must be busy biting their nails off. This is the big G’s first step into the world of operating systems, and they want everything to go just right. Minecraft Server on Ubuntu

So I finally gave in and joined the craze that is Minecraft. It is a highly addictive game, so I would highly recommend against playing it while you have stuff to do, though you get 25% off while it is in beta, so go buy it (not an affiliate link, just love the game). There’s been quite a lot of talk about “the cloud” lately so what better time to do a review of one of the best cloud-oriented desktop Linux distributions? Peppermint OS One came out a while ago and its successor has just been released. Peppermint OS Two is based on Lubuntu 11.04 and, for the first time, comes in a 64-bit edition. Lubuntu is a good choice as a base for Peppermint OS Two since it runs well on older or slower hardware.

Windows killed my laptop, again

Linux in Exile gets his Linux Install zapped by Windows. Not sure how Windows kills itself, but Linux continues to work fine. I'm reminded how Windows killed my laptop, under different circumstances.

So often lately, I hear of the cloud and the wonderful things it will do for the world. I increasingly hear that any software effort that is not directed toward the cloud is going to fail. So much, I hear that desktops and laptops are antiquated due to the superiority of cloud-utilizing dumb terminals. I completely disagree, and should the cloud be the true future of computing, I think I may just have to find a new interest.
