Jim Lacey, president and CEO of LPI, noted that in addition to the continuing participation of private training companies in LPI's training partner program there was significant momentum amongst academic organizations over the last two years: "This growth within the academic community is indicative of both our outreach efforts and their recognition of the value added of both Open Source Software and our certification program in preparing their students for a career in IT." Mr. Lacey also noted that government and industry-related accreditation programs for vocational training were also driving this academic trend and cited related announcements over the last year in the UK, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and Tunisia.
