Open source radio software Airtime 2.0 released
Sourcefabric has released their open source radio software Airtime in version 2.0. Airtime is free to download, runs on Ubuntu and Debian, and users can interact with it through any web browser. The latest version now adds the ability to configure Icecast and SHOUTcast streams in the browser, a button to listen to the station’s output and multiple improvements to the playlist and calendar views.

Sourcefabric's radio automation software Airtime now allows up to three audio streams with different bitrates to be pointed to different Icecast and SHOUTcast servers, plus connection issues can be diagnosed through the interface. All shows can now be uploaded automatically to SoundCloud.

Playlists feature better error checking in cases where two users alter the same data at the same time and several interface improvements have made building shows more intuitive. View settings are now saved in the calendar (time scale and time increments) and playlists (number of items displayed, search term) so when users browse away and return, preferred views will be remembered.
Airtime 2.0 allows stations to change the hardware output API from their browser between ALSA, OSS, AO, Pulseaudio, and Portaudio. Stations can preview streams directly from the new web interface too. Time zone can now be set via the Airtime interface and services and disk space can be monitored. Media Monitor stability has been improved and Airtime 2.0 features protection against brute-force password guessing attacks via a RECAPTCHA. Full Story |
