(Sacramento, CA, USA: July 9, 2013) The Linux Professional Institute
(LPI: http://www.lpi.org), the world's premier Linux certification organization, announced

"LPI has long pursued an IT workforce development agenda of empowering
youth in their IT careers, innovation, digital literacy and content, and
promoting industry partnerships between government, enterprise and
training partners. This closely paralells Europe's overall e-skills
long term strategy. As such our membership in the European e-Skills
Association is a natural fit for us. We look forward to representing
the interests of Linux and Open Source Software within this organization
while cooperating on a larger agenda of IT skills development in
Europe," said Jim Lacey, president and CEO of LPI.
LPI has worked at a leadership level with EeSA in the past: most
recently on IT skills standards within a European-wide e-Competence
Framework (e-CF) and an eSkills Quality Labels program. For more

"LPI's longstanding commitment and efforts on global IT workforce
development are remarkable. LPI has mapped its LPIC Program to the
European e-Competence Framework (e-CF) in the scope of our initiative on
the development of a quality label for ICT industry training and
certification. The participation of LPI in the CEN ICT Skills Workshop
(European Standardisation Committee) and the European e-Skills
Association is welcome and we look forward to the insight they can bring
to the “Grand Coalition for Digital Jobs” launched by President Barroso
in March 2013," said André Richier, Principal Administrator at the
European Commission within the Directorate General Enterprise and Industry.
