Valve is reportedly removing games from its store which claim to work for Linux but dont actually work on the Steam OS Platform.

It has reported that some of the linux tagged games are no longer available for purchase, this is most likely an attempt by Valve to prevent user disappointment when they buy a game for their steambox to find it wont work.

"Gaming on Linux pointed out Valve likely doesn’t want a game advertised has having SteamOS support when if an “outside launcher/installer such as Adobe Air, Flash or the like” is required to run the game’s interface.

The site spoke with other developers which had their games removed, and was told inquiries had been sent over to Valve."

Although this will annoy some, especially the developers it relies so much on, it will be better in the long run for overall gaming experience. With SteamOS being built on one of the Main Source Distro's (Debian), making sure all games work perfect on this platform will make the many derivatives such as Ubuntu and Mint have better support for these games.
