Nexenta Systems, Inc releases enterprise-grade ZFS storage appliance software NexentaStor based on hybrid Opensolaris/Debian platform.

Nexenta Storage Appliance is designed and built to operate as 2nd tier storage alongside pre-existing commercial storage, providing online continuation of data for months and years, with tapes relegated to archival purposes only. NexentaStor appliance utilizes NexentaOS operating system - a complete GNU-based OS. Being hybrid in nature and by design, NexentaOS, and therefore NexentaStor appliance, leverage extremely rich suite of open source GNU software (often called Linux software) - the software that is constantly being created, improved, and optimized. NexentaStor features flexibility, open source standards support, adaptability and ease of customization - the features inherited directly from Linux.
