The Southern California Linux Expo SCALE 10X is putting the final touches on the first-of-the-year Linux expo in North America. Games? SCALE has them, as well as classes at SCALE U and the rapid-fire UpSCALE talks and more.

With three days left before SCALE kicks off – that's right, under 72 hours and counting – here's what's happening as the SCALE Team puts the final touches on SCALE 10X

PLAYING GAMES AT SCALE

Laser Tag? Check. Video Games? Check. Pool table? Check. Board Games? Check. Deadly Nerf Weaponry? Of course. Join your fellow SCALE attendees for drinks, games, and fun at SCALE's 2nd Annual Game Night on Saturday from 9 to 11:30 p.m.

This year's special 10th Anniversary celebration includes several unique activities:

– History of Nintendo: Re-experience every major version of Mario released, on original equipment, from the first 1985 NES all the way to the modern Wii. You can play all night and we won't tell your parents. – LAN Wars Arena: Face off against your enemies on high performance gaming machines in ZaReason's lights-out fighting ring.

– SCALE Poker Contest: Bring the SCALE poker cards you collected throughout the day and find out what the mystery questions were. Best hand wins a prize!

– A late night snack of Android cookies, milk, and ice cream sandwiches.

Game Night will take place in the Plaza Ballroom, which is located below the Hilton lobby. For more information visit https://www.socallinuxexpo.org/scale10x/events/game-night

UpSCALE GETS FINALIZED

Join us as members of the Free and Open Source community do their best to beat the clock and get their ideas out at the UpSCALE talks on Friday at 8 p.m., in the La Jolla room. The talks are held in the style of the Ignite presentations where participants are given five minutes to speak on a subject accompanied by 20 automatically-advanced slides. This makes it a fast paced, fun event for participants and audience. The schedule for the UpSCALE talks is being finalized and will be posted soon at http://www.socallinuxexpo.org/scale10x/events/upscale

CLASS IS STILL IN SESSION – ATTEND SCALE U

Gimme an S, gimme an C, gimme an A-L-E! A variety of classes are still available in the SCALE U track at SCALE 10X. Additional training partners are available this year, providing a more intense and personal learning experience than a 45-minute seminar. Puppet labs, LOPSA and the Linux Professional Institute will host the classes. The five half-day classes for systems administrators of all skill and experience levels will be held on Friday. The SCALE University Pass – which you sign up for at registration includes a full day of training and full access to three days of SCALE 10X.
