Analysts from the Yankee Group said that corporations using Linux in their IT environment should review the terms and conditions of each of their individual licensing contracts with legal counsel to determine if they have adequate indemnification coverage. In the absence of indemnification or specific indemnification provisions, corporations could be the target of an intellectual property lawsuit - forcing them to use their own money and resources for their defense.

Scare tactics

Old news and more of the same Blah Blah Blah. Big mouth "Dodo" has been carrying the flag of indemnification for a while now. What's the big deal? Red Hat, Novell and HP have been offering indemnification to their customers for sometime. OSDL has a $10 million fund just to defend such suits. MS didn't offer anything more than a refund of the software cost. They recently started offering their customers a new plan, which is in my opinion & IANAL, basically accounts to nothing more than useless restrictions and exclusions that pretty much covers nothing and give no confort. It is a plan that all it consists of is smoke and mirrors. There are already a number of large scale Linux installations in pretty large companies, If any one has any valid case against Free Open Source, why the heck don't they sue? It seems like "AssCeeOh" law suite is going nowhere, what are they waiting for? Another "Stupid Company Officer" to come along? We all know what happened to the Dodo, don't we?

Laura DiDio FUD again

Yeah, there she is, Laura DiDio from the Yankee Group, fudding around again and again. I can't believe there are still people taking her seriously. Seems this time tomshardware got suckered. Is there nobody at tomshardware reading groklaw? What a shame.

Btw, Laura DiDio is one of the few persons in the world still believing SCO can win, that's why I just can't take her seriously no matter how hard I try *ggg*
It may be a false assumption that anyone takes her seriously. Her credibility is equivalent to that of a billboard.
Aren't these highly pro-Microsoft? the META group the Gatner Report and the Yankee Group?

In the UK - we have others like Cap Gemini
