Let's see... Red Hat 100% for the GPL. Sun 100% AGAINST the GPL. Yep.. looks like a acquisition target to me. The Sun rumor mill is full of wild (and UNTRUE) acquisition stories right now. I guess Sun needed some free publicity. I really DO NOT see Sun doing a Linux distribution acquisition. I can see them (far reach) acquiring some kind of Linux integrator or other channel (though none will meet Sun's standards). With that said, Novell is certainly a better "target"... but there's so much conflict on the product lines... way too much.... I think Sun plans on moving out of the "pit" on their own, and I think they are well on their way. |
